Tommy Ton for GQ.com Shoe Preview

Photographer Tommy Ton catches some interesting men's footwear in Paris and Pitti Uomo for GQ.com. I am a shoe connoisseur so I'm always people watching and I automatically look at their shoes first 99.9% of the time. People watching sounds creepy but it is one of the most important factors in the fashion business. This is where you can get inspiration from the simplest thing that you saw on somebody that day like a color that they had on or a color combination that sparked an idea. Or for a designer to see how people wear a certain item that they designed in their own creative way. New York City, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Los Angeles, London and many big cities are great people watching areas. People in smaller cities tend to keep it simpler and are usually scared to push the envelope because of the ridicule that they would get from the locals. Believe me I know all about that coming from a small town in upstate New York.
